Plazaville is a new media video art work. It is based on the classic 1965 movie Alphaville by Jean Luc Godard. It is set in 21st century New York City. The scenes from the original Alphaville are being re-enacted, interpreted and improvised upon by the artists, actors and videographers. The piece uses the internet as one means of distributing the short video clips. This is somewhat like a serialized program but is not in any order. Viewers can download new scenes as they become available on iTunes and youTube. The videos can be viewed on iPhones, computers and large screen HD televisions.

Your guess is as good as mine as to what this means. Zaha Hadid is designing shoes for Lacoste and I really want that Thomas Demand polo. So it seems as if I've found myself at some crossroad. As of this moment I don't know if the wearable magazine will be available at Macy's but we're having a big meeting Wednesday so maybe I'll know after that. But wouldn't Warhol be thrilled? Too bad he's dead.

The “cultural stealth” of our own existence has started to take its toll upon us. In a culture where the idea of transmission-ability//progress is given up in the name of Post Modernity, the disillusion and disenchantment
that is accredited by de-motivated academics, leaves us – both as artist practitioners and spectators – feeling somewhat alienated.

Sperone Westwater has announced that the gallery will move to a new building at 257 Bowery in December 2009. British based Foster + Partners, headed by Norman Foster with Architects of Record Adamson Associates, have been commissioned to build the new nine-story gallery located on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, one block north of the New Museum. Prompted by Sperone Westwater’s increasing need for larger and more flexible space, the Foster + Partners design will double the exhibition area and provide a variety of rooms for the gallery’s ambitious and diverse program.

I have not yet seen the Guggenheim show on relational aesthetics (RA), due to the fact that the museum no longer maintains an aesthetic relationship with me. But who knows, I might drop by one of these days and actually view it.

This was a charming little piece of street art but perhaps I felt that way about it because I saw it after a bad day at work. In any case I'm tired of galleries so I support this sort of effort by default. As with the Chanel Art Container, which I also enjoyed in spite of the art, whether it's good or bad art is still up in the air.
